I came here to ask for Google +1 button too. But I already saw one topic talking about it, and serioulsy, it's taking too long :P
Now, since you guys are going to update the for put the Google +1 button, how put insert Tumblr button too? That would be very nice.

The initial released of Google +1 APIs are a bit unstable, so i didn't release it immediately, now it's should be ok. Try it at v4.5.3
Tumblr...will study on it. Thanks
